Welcome To The New Site!

Wow, it’s hard to believe I haven’t been blogging for almost a solid 8 months. Life has definitely been an (exciting) rollercoaster during this time, but I’m happy things are finally settling down. Now I can get back into a routine, which means blogging! So where have I been? After graduating with my BS in Human Nutrition & Foods, with a minor in Communication Studies, I wanted to run in so many directions and had no clue how to get started in any. I was still stuck in my college job, with a slight promotion and a full time position. Feeling way over qualified and unsatisfied I realized I needed a change. I made a list of things I really wanted to do: Go to graduate school Educate others about nutrition Help people Get the hell out of Morgantown I started with applying to graduate school, except I didn’t actually […]

Exploring Charleston, SC.

Can I just say I’m obsessed with Charleston? The town was gorgeous. Brick streets were beautifully preserved.  Buildings ranged from quaint and small to large and extravagant, all the while keeping their historic look in tact.  The people were everywhere, ranging in all ages. Each large chain shop was matched with a unique, local one close by. I was impressed by how fit and put together each person looked. Styles ranged from dressed to the nines, to casual, to workout, each looking undeniably presentable. The only thing not to love? Parking was a total nightmare (I’m talking $20 a day). If parking bothered the locals, you couldn’t tell. Residents of all ages were walking and biking everywhere. Biking was a common sight with bikes chained outside nearly every store permissible. The number of local restaurants was ridiculously overwhelming.  Every cuisine you could possibly imagine was available ranging from as dirt cheap […]

My Newest Summer Go-To Drink

Between going to school full time, picking up a new job, trying to work part/full time, applying for graduation and jobs, finals, case studies, presentations, Koda, family, and friends I’ve pretty much been MIA –all for good reasons though! I normally jot down a few blog post ideas during my week and then complete them during the weekends, but I’ve been so busy my list has just kept growing and growing. Good news for you all though! I’ll have a TON of new posts coming soon! I feel like right now is crunch time for everyone.  Everyone’s scrambling to get things together and prepare for summer.  Even if it’s not summer quite yet, the weather here in Morgantown is definitely starting to feel like summer.  Of course this means it’s time to switch up my drink order at Starbucks. I have two summer go-to drinks. If I’m just looking for […]

13 Tips to Cut Down on Dinning Out

Two of the first few reactions people have when I tell them I’m majoring in Human Nutrition and Food is to become self-conscious and judge.  They confess they’re afraid to tell me their eating habits, in fear I’ll judge them.  Likewise, they judge me; assuming I eat perfect 100% of the time and never eat out.  The reaction when I say some days I could sit down and eat half a pizza is priceless. No one is perfect in his or her eating habits.  Just because I know how I should be eating, doesn’t mean I always eat perfect.  If anything, I enjoy going out to eat more than other people.  I love exploring different foods and cooking techniques, and of course the social experience.  However, dinning out isn’t great for your waist or your wallet.  Eating meal after meal out adds up quicker than you would think. Whether you’re […]
