Exploring Greensboro, NC

It’s no secret I’m in love with the Carolinas. I’m not sure exactly when it happened… Somewhere along the way of heading down the WV Turnpike, waiting for my ears to pop, holding my breath as we drove through the Virginia tunnels (always making my wish for a puppy), spotting Pilot Mountain, staring out at the Winston-Salem city skyline, and finally rolling down the window and breathing in that South Carolina salt water air I fell in love. A lot has changed since I was a child. I no longer wish to be a marine biologist. I’ll even eat my vegetables without a fight. But I my love for the Carolinas is still going strong. The Carolinas will always hold a special place in my heart and the past weekend was no exception. Aaron and I packed up a few Fridays ago to make my favorite road trip, this time […]

Welcome To The New Site!

Wow, it’s hard to believe I haven’t been blogging for almost a solid 8 months. Life has definitely been an (exciting) rollercoaster during this time, but I’m happy things are finally settling down. Now I can get back into a routine, which means blogging! So where have I been? After graduating with my BS in Human Nutrition & Foods, with a minor in Communication Studies, I wanted to run in so many directions and had no clue how to get started in any. I was still stuck in my college job, with a slight promotion and a full time position. Feeling way over qualified and unsatisfied I realized I needed a change. I made a list of things I really wanted to do: Go to graduate school Educate others about nutrition Help people Get the hell out of Morgantown I started with applying to graduate school, except I didn’t actually […]

Homemade Pumpkin Spiced Chip Cookies

One of my favorite things about the food community is it seems there is always a national something day or month.  Last week hosted national homemade cookie day, so you know I had to celebrate accordingly. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get this post up on the day of or as soon as I would have liked due to traveling. What counts is I’m still going to share a delicious homemade cookie recipe with you! Not to brag, but cookies are my forte. Ya girl can make some bomb cookies. In college, my friends use to show up at my apartment with cookie supplies in hopes I would make them cookies. Every time I go to my parent’s, my mom asks me to make cookies. Anyone who is anyone knows moms always make food taste better, so you know you’ve successfully mastered a recipe when your mom has passed the torch onto you. MOMMA I MADE IT. There’s nothing […]

Pumpkin Spiced Muffins

Happy first day of fall! Fall is my absolute favorite season—cooler days, crisp leaves crunching beneath your feet, chunky sweaters, dark colored lipsticks, oversized sweaters, stylish boots. I mean, is there anything better than sweater weather? If you answered yes please DM me so I can either know about it or pray for you. I kicked off the season the only way I know how—breaking out the pumpkin pure for pumpkin flavored everything! My first recipe of the season is an oldie, but a goodie. Behold, chocolate chip pumpkin spiced muffins. These little morsels are quite popular around the foodie community. I grew up eating them from my mom’s kitchen and started making them with my friends in college every chance we got each fall. Once you see the short ingredient list and take your first bite, you’ll understand why everyone is obsessed. Super easy to make and a delicious morning treat! YUM. Exploring Charleston, SC.

Can I just say I’m obsessed with Charleston? The town was gorgeous. Brick streets were beautifully preserved.  Buildings ranged from quaint and small to large and extravagant, all the while keeping their historic look in tact.  The people were everywhere, ranging in all ages. Each large chain shop was matched with a unique, local one close by. I was impressed by how fit and put together each person looked. Styles ranged from dressed to the nines, to casual, to workout, each looking undeniably presentable. The only thing not to love? Parking was a total nightmare (I’m talking $20 a day). If parking bothered the locals, you couldn’t tell. Residents of all ages were walking and biking everywhere. Biking was a common sight with bikes chained outside nearly every store permissible. The number of local restaurants was ridiculously overwhelming.  Every cuisine you could possibly imagine was available ranging from as dirt cheap […]
