Dietetic Internship Weeks 18-28: Clinical 1 & LTC

I’m back tracking here a bit to share some past rotation experiences from this semester. Okay, back tracking is an understatement since I’m wrapping up this semester in like two weeks and this post is going to be about the first part of the semester… but it is what it is. This semester has felt a lot quicker than last semester, which is odd considering there were no breaks this semester, but there were breaks every month last semester. To keep this post from being longer than it needs, let’s just jump in! Week 18: Community Outreach The focus of my internship is community, specifically school nutrition education…

Dietetic Internship Weeks 13-17: NEP, MNT Case Studies, Community Outreach, & Fall Semester Wrap Up

I totally had every intention of getting this blog post up during my Christmas break. If you follow me on Instagram, you know we had a pretty chaotic time. We took a vacation to the beach, since it was the only break I’ll be getting until the end of my program and Aaron had some PTO to use up before the new year. I had one week off where I was home–but it was spent getting things in order to be able to leave, seeing family, and other odds and ends. Then we were off to the beach! So time to catch up with a dietetic internship update and recap of weeks 6-13! Week 6: Huntington’s Kitchen Huntington’s Kitchen was one of my rotations I was most excited about! I first learned about the kitchen from watching Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution.…

Five Tips for Avoiding the Comparison Trap

Has it really been over a month since my last blog post? I’d like to blame it on being busy. That would be an easy excuse. Between graduate classes, my research position, and the internship rotations themselves, I am swamped. It would be a lie though to blame the internship. I could blame other aspects of my schedule. Trying to squeeze in time with family, or one on one time with Aaron, spending more time with the pets. The list could go on for miles. These days everyone is chronically busy. But there are still plenty of bloggers out there making their scheduled posts. And that’s where the real answer…

    Dietetic Internship Week 5: NEP

Today’s blog post weekly recap of my dietetic internship will be a short one. Last week was my second week on my Nutrition Education Program rotation. Unlike last week, I didn’t do much teaching this time. Actually, out of my four days at NEP, I only taught 3 classes on my last day. What did I do the other days then? I’m glad you asked. Here’s what my week not teaching consisted of: Spending an entire day with a professor for chemistry of foods. I graded undergrad lab reports, gathered up items needed for the lab that day, made a market order for the next week’s lab, assisted students during…
