Southwestern Turkey Chili

It’s a little hard to tell with all this crazy weather we’ve been having, but summer is quickly approaching! I loved summer because it was always associated with a more laid back style of life. No matter how crazy life got, I could count on summer to give me a breather. Summer was good for my soul. Fast-forward and now summer means everyone is gearing up for vacations aka work gets crazier trying to cover shifts because everyone’s tryna burn through that PTO. This summer is a little different though. I found out in early April that I matched to my first choice Dietetic Internship (eeeek!!). So that means I’ll be leaving my job mid-summer to prepare for the internship. Granted I’ve been working in the field since my last year of undergrad, but there’s so much my mind needs a good refresher on before jumping into the internship. It’s definitely […]

Homemade Pumpkin Spiced Chip Cookies

One of my favorite things about the food community is it seems there is always a national something day or month.  Last week hosted national homemade cookie day, so you know I had to celebrate accordingly. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to get this post up on the day of or as soon as I would have liked due to traveling. What counts is I’m still going to share a delicious homemade cookie recipe with you! Not to brag, but cookies are my forte. Ya girl can make some bomb cookies. In college, my friends use to show up at my apartment with cookie supplies in hopes I would make them cookies. Every time I go to my parent’s, my mom asks me to make cookies. Anyone who is anyone knows moms always make food taste better, so you know you’ve successfully mastered a recipe when your mom has passed the torch onto you. MOMMA I MADE IT. There’s nothing […]

Pumpkin Spiced Muffins

Happy first day of fall! Fall is my absolute favorite season—cooler days, crisp leaves crunching beneath your feet, chunky sweaters, dark colored lipsticks, oversized sweaters, stylish boots. I mean, is there anything better than sweater weather? If you answered yes please DM me so I can either know about it or pray for you. I kicked off the season the only way I know how—breaking out the pumpkin pure for pumpkin flavored everything! My first recipe of the season is an oldie, but a goodie. Behold, chocolate chip pumpkin spiced muffins. These little morsels are quite popular around the foodie community. I grew up eating them from my mom’s kitchen and started making them with my friends in college every chance we got each fall. Once you see the short ingredient list and take your first bite, you’ll understand why everyone is obsessed. Super easy to make and a delicious morning treat! YUM. White Watermelon Summer Sangria

I’m well known with my close friends for making ah-mazing homemade sangria. Probably because I had my sangria phase. No seriously, there was a fresh pitcher of sangria in my fridge every weekend (read: daily) for about a solid year. I was known for showing up to a gathering with a pitcher in my hand. Benefits of living in the same apartment complex as your best friends, easy transportation. I’m not much of a white wine drinker. I tend to like my wine dark, like my coffee, wardrobe, and soul. That being said, there is nothing like a Riesling sometimes. It’s like Riesling was created for sangria. Trust me on this. It’s my secret to success. Okay, let’s not go that far, but still. As I was cutting up a decent sized watermelon from Aldi for my weekly meal prep, I couldn’t help but think how perfect it would go […]

Overnight Oats Make Ahead Breakfast

There’s no denying that overnight oats had their “moment” on food blogs thanks to Pinterest. They’re actually how I first discovered food blogs. But I never brought myself to try them simply because I’m not a big oatmeal fan. I always hated it growing up, but over the past year or so it’s one of the foods (like tuna or black coffee) I’ve tried to train myself to like for the health benefits. I started off easing into oats by just adding a scoop to my morning or post work out protein smoothie (blueberries + oats + unsweetened almond milk + protein powder = my go to perfection). Eventually I ended up trying to sneak in oats anyway I could, without having to taste them of course! My favorite is throwing a cup in my nutribullet, giving a few quick pluses, and using them like a breadcrumb for burgers or chicken. […]
