Ten Ways to Celebrate National Nutrition Month®

March is National Nutrition Month®, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics’ annual nutrition education campaign. It’s ran each year in March to remind us of the importance in eating right. This year’s theme is to “Put Your Best Fork Forward”. By doing so, you’re making the conscious choice with each bite to eat more nutritious foods. I’ve decided this year to participate in their blogroll by promoting National Nutrition Month® and encourage everyone to “Put Their Best Fork Forward”! My Newest Drink Craze + Life Talk

I’ve been finding myself gravitating from coffee and opting more and more for hot tea this season. Yogi, Traditional Medicinal Teas, and Celestial Seasonings have been my go to drinks lately. Yogi’s Roasted Dandelion Spice and Celestial Teahouse’s Dirty Chai have been my wake up and get me through the work day teas. Celestial’s Sleepytime Sinus Soother is my all time favorite sleep/sick tea combo, but it’s been super hard to find at the store. I wish I remember where I picked it up, so I’ll probably just use my Amazon Prime to get it again. I’ve been super sick lately, so the Throat Coat with Lemon Echinacea has been a lifesaver for both me and Aaron. He’s really been digging the Breathe Easy, but I’m not a huge fan of the taste. Woofstock & Wieners, a Festival for Fido!

Last weekend Aaron and I took advantage of some nice weather and attended Woofstock and Wieners, a Festival for Fido. The event was part of Charleston’s FestivALL and sponsored by the local animal shelter, Kanawha County Humane Association. I’m a huge animal lover, so naturally one of my big goals since moving to the area has been to get settled enough to started volunteering/donating to the shelter. All benefits from the event went directly to KCHA, so I was totally game. Saturday we loaded down my purse with our doggie supplies (water bottles, poop bags, and treats), jumped in the car, and headed down to Magic Island. There was a great turnout and it was really awesome to see unique breeds you’d never expect in WV. KCHA offered discounted clinic services, but our pups were up-to-date on all their shots! Exploring Greensboro, NC

It’s no secret I’m in love with the Carolinas. I’m not sure exactly when it happened… Somewhere along the way of heading down the WV Turnpike, waiting for my ears to pop, holding my breath as we drove through the Virginia tunnels (always making my wish for a puppy), spotting Pilot Mountain, staring out at the Winston-Salem city skyline, and finally rolling down the window and breathing in that South Carolina salt water air I fell in love. A lot has changed since I was a child. I no longer wish to be a marine biologist. I’ll even eat my vegetables without a fight. But I my love for the Carolinas is still going strong. Welcome To The New Site!

Wow, it’s hard to believe I haven’t been blogging for almost a solid 8 months. Life has definitely been an (exciting) rollercoaster during this time, but I’m happy things are finally settling down. Now I can get back into a routine, which means blogging! So where have I been? After graduating with my BS in Human Nutrition & Foods, with a minor in Communication Studies, I wanted to run in so many directions and had no clue how to get started in any. I was still stuck in my college job, with a slight promotion and a full time position. Feeling way over qualified and unsatisfied I realized I needed a change.
